   Our Schools Direct Non-Salaried Package

Professional Qualification

Our training course will include a PGCE from Leeds Beckett University in Primary Education and will cover from age 3-11.

The majority of the year will be spent in one of our partnership schools, of which there are at least 30 cross phrase schools in 3 local authorities. At the start of the course our trainees will participate in a variety of training days at Scissett First School. During the first half term trainees will spend at least 3 days per week in class learning from outstanding practitioners alongside their work in university. There will be scope for trainees to spend time in other classes to enable them to complete their university tasks. Each trainee will carry out all three Teaching Placements across the partnership and where possible will be given the opportunity to teach at many of the schools through an enhanced placement at the end of the course. Staff from Scissett First School will act as School Based Mentors and deliver managed continuity to our trainees.

About us

Scissett First School has approx. 175 pupils in its roll in single entry classes from Reception to Year 5. Our last three Ofsted inspections have been graded as outstanding. We were designated a Teaching School summer 2014, Yorkshire Anglican TSA’.

Our Alliance has quickly developed and currently has more than 40 partner schools ranging from primary, middle and secondary. We celebrate and welcome diversity and our Christian Ethos and Values are at the heart of everything that we do. We are situated close to the M1 junction 38/39, in a semi-rural setting, about 7 miles south east of Huddersfield. This year we have 13 Primary School Direct places on offer.

Track record

We have a strong track record of success. Trainees traditionally make very good progress, are well supported to achieve success and demonstrate good/outstanding outcomes at the end of their placements with us.
