Welcome to Class 2

Teacher: Mrs Whittle

Hello my name is Mrs Whittle and I teach the Dahl class which is Scissett Academy's year 2! We have two amazing teaching assistants that help us most days called Mrs Conway and Mrs Brook!

This year is a very important year as it represents the big move from year one and helps the pupils work towards the jump up to key stage two. The environment is much quieter and structured with new expectations and bigger furniture.

In Dahl class there is a huge emphasis upon building confidence and developing independence whilst ensuring that learning is fun and enjoyable. We want to create a stimulating and challenging learning environment in which all of our pupils feel safe and supported. We celebrate our achievements daily and appreciate everyone’s contributions to our class.

We have an exciting year ahead with a trip to Skipton castle, rugby sessions with the Huddersfield Giants, the nativity play and a Pirate day all to look forward too!

Class 2 Letters

Dahl Class Storm The Castle

Dahl class had a great time exploring Skipton Castle! We got to learn all about how people used to live in the castle and we especially enjoyed learning about the "long drop" and the "poo sticks". Sir Baz told us lots of stories about castle life and helped make sure we didn't get lost!

However, he did try to lock us in the dungeon! A huge thank you to Sir Baz and all of our helpers that came along on our trip.

Luckily the weather didn't dampen our spirits. What a great day it was!

As well as rugby we have been having tennis sessions! We've learnt to control the tennis ball and have begun to volley. Thank you Jonny for coming in!

Rugby Superstars

This half term Dahl class have been really fortunate to have Chris from Huddersfield Giants every Tuesday morning!

We've been learning lots of rugby tactics and rules and have had lots of fun! Watch this space for the rugby stars of the future.

Scissett Nativity Stars

A huge round of applause to our wonderful actors and actresses in Dahl class. You absolutely shone during the KS1 nativity "Whoops-a-daisy Angel"! We could not be prouder of all the hard work and dedication you showed! An extra special thank you to Mrs Horn for her wonderful costume making and to Mrs Boulby for playing the piano for us! We couldn't have done it without you!

Scissett Academy's Special Visitor

In school this week the children were very excited to have a special visit from Santa! Luckily we've all been really good this term so Santa gave all the children in Dahl class a present! We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New year! Have restful break!

Road Safety

Dahl class had a fantastic morning learning how to stay safe on the roads.

Dahl class have enjoyed our basketball sessions this half term. We have learnt to pass the ball, defend and shoot into a net. We even got competitive in some team games.

Dahl Class Assembly

Dahl class had a great time learning about Africa this term and decided to share some of our learning during our class assembly. We loved making masks and used them to retell the story of Handa's surprise. A huge well done to Dahl class for their hard work and a extra special thank you to all the parents and other family members who came to support us!

Sports Relief

Dahl class and the rest of Scissett academy raised money for sports relief by coming into school dressed up sporty! We also completed our 1k journey around the playground doing a mixture of walking, running, side steps and hopping! We learnt all about the amazing things sports relief does to help people.
